1st Trimester Recap!!

I am almost 14 weeks along which means the second trimester! Very glad to be out of the first. After each trimester I thought I would write how that trimester went so I can look back on it and to keep you all informed with our lives.

I found out I was pregnant when I was 4 weeks along. Josh and I were trying to have a baby that’s why I found out so quickly. It’s crazy that I have known I have a little baby growing inside of me for over 2 months. Since we had some complications last fall this first appointment of ours gave me great peace of mind. Our baby didn’t look like much but he or she was there and growing! After we came back from that first appointment on March 7th we told Avery the good news J She has been wanting to be a big sister forever so her wish finally came true! Now she constantly plays with the baby’s car seat and stroller and likes telling us everything she is going to do with the baby once he or she is here.

Before I was pregnant I weighed 120 lbs and now I weigh 124 lbs. The average woman gains 3-5 pounds in the first trimester so I’m right on track. I didn’t start feeling pregnancy symptoms until about week 7 and then nausea started at week 9. When the symptoms started at week 7 it was the usual things like peeing all the time, fatigue, mood swings, headaches, back aches, bloating and dizziness. And then at week 9 I felt YUCKY! That nausea hit me like a ton of bricks. I could go from feeling great and hungry to not even being able to think about food. One night I made everyone big smoothies for dinner because that’s the only thing I could stand. I soon realized it helped if I would eat before I got really hungry or else the nausea would get worse. Since I have a long torso and tilted uterus my belly starts growing very low so about a week ago I used one of Avery’s rubber bands for my pants and it feels so nice! Lately I have begun to feel better which is great. I still get nauseous at times but it’s getting less intense. I am still peeing a crazy amount of times a day, feeling pretty tired, and getting constant headaches but this all means my body is doing what it needs to do to make this baby grow so I’m ok with it. So far I haven’t had any big food aversions unless I’m feeling nauseous because then nothing sounds good but I have had some cravings! Everything salty!! I have loved Tim’s cascade potato chips, tortilla chips and queso dip, bread and white cheddar cheese, and any spicy chips. I so wish I craved really healthy things but that hasn’t happened yet. So I first eat the fruits and veggies I need then reward myself with a snack I have been craving. I eat a normal sized breakfast and dinner (which is when I am most hungry) and then have 2 small meals during the day and that has helped a lot with feeling sick.

Since I am almost 14 weeks we still have 26 weeks until we can hold our sweet baby but we are oh so excited!! I have a doctor’s appointment in 3 weeks and they are going to try and see if they can get a look at the gender! I hope our baby is being corporative that day because we want to start thinking of names!! Right now the baby is the size of a hot jalapeno and growing like crazy! We love you little one!!
